Associated British Ports are to invest £150m into the proposed Green Port development in Hull, with a second plant located in East Yorkshire.  This investment, along with a similar amount by Siemens, is expected to boost jobs in the region and have a positive effect on the energy supply chain.

Ed Davey, the Energy Secretary, says “This deal is excellent news for the people of Hull and the Humber, the UK, the wind industry and our energy security”.

At FPA we have supported Associated British Ports with some Fuel Contracting consultancy, undertaking an initial Procurement Review and subsequent support for their Fuel Supply Contracts and are pleased to see the investment staying on UK shores.

Along with the recent announcement by Hitachi to locate its Intercity Trains factory in County Durham, it appears the UK economy still has plenty to offer.
