John Stone, one of our procurement consultants has just completed an assignment working with the University of Derby which commenced in May this year, covering for their Head of Procurement, reporting directly to the Deputy CEO and Financial Director; the requirement came to FPA Consulting by personal recommendation from the exiting Head of Procurement.
John has extensive knowledge of public sector procurement and brought his capabilities to the University for their Works, Goods and Services contracts. He managed a devolved procurement function which allowed him to lead large capital expenditure projects as well as the University staff to undertake the purchasing of their own day-to-day requirements.
As part of his Interim Management role he oversaw several design & build construction projects, ranging in value from £250k to £3m, ensuring the University had robust agreements in place with their contractors.
The role also comprised of consultancy work advising the University on UK and EU Legislation, commercial awareness and Best Practice in the Public Sector. He was also able to advise on the development of the devolved structure within the University, thus improving the procurement policies and procedures.

One of our Procurement Consultants undertook the five month assignment covering for their Head of Procurement, reporting directly to the Deputy CEO and Finance Director. This allowed the University to optimize their strategic procurement recruitment plan.
