Earlier this month the Government announced changes to the way it will provide support to assist businesses faced with rising energy costs. These changes will take effect from 1st April 2023 so we are encouraging businesses to engage with an experienced energy procurement specialist as early as possible to plan for the impact these changes may have on their organisation.
The current Government energy support scheme (Energy Bill Relief Scheme) runs from October 2022 to March 2023 and has capped the maximum price businesses pay for their energy supply. From 1st April 2023, the cap will be lifted and instead, businesses will receive a discount under the new Energy Bill Discount Scheme – but this will only apply if certain thresholds are met in respect of energy wholesale prices. Furthermore, the level of support received will be dependent upon a business’s energy usage profile.
