Switching Water Supplier

On 1st April 2017,  the market for the supply of non-household water in England was opened to allow all water companies to offer services across the UK. This meant that for the first time ever, all businesses were in a position to select their preferred supplier for water and wastewater retail services.

Since then, businesses of all sizes have been much more conscious of their water bill and keen to explore what each provider has to offer.

Firstly, let’s be clear that switching to a different supplier does not necessarily mean that you will see huge financial savings.

Business should, therefore, not be fooled by organisations who contact them promoting excessive savings opportunities within the market, as the only true opportunity for price negotiation falls within the retail element of the water industry, which typically accounts for less than 10% of the overall cost.

It is, therefore, of paramount importance that when selecting a third-party intermediary to manage the tendering of your water and wastewater requirements that you choose an organisation that has extensive experience of the water market and its inherent complexities.

Changing Water Supplier

We have been assisting businesses with the provision of water management services for a considerable number of years, including in the Scottish Water Market.  Our service offering is wide-ranging covering commercial contracting, water invoice validation, meter size reviews, leakage resolution etc.

The real quantifiable opportunities for financial savings, in addition to any price benefits secured through a commercial tendering exercise, will be from businesses ensuring that they correctly pay and only pay for the services they receive, and also through the deployment of water saving initiatives across their portfolios.

FPA offer a wealth of both working knowledge and experience of all Utility supply markets and are, therefore, extremely well placed to assist you in the development of your strategy for securing savings on your annual water expenditure.
