Authorised Supply Capacity Reviews

Keeping electricity bills under control

Third-party charges in the electricity market are increasing and complex, therefore it is critical to understand them and mitigate the cost exposure to your business.

Authorised Supply Capacity (ASC) is one area that is often neglected and where many businesses could reduce their costs.

ASC is the agreed maximum supply capacity that a customer is allowed to take from the distribution system through their connection point. ASC is measured in kVA and charged monthly via the supplier. The cost is based on a rate issued by the electricity distributor and in line with published Distribution Use of System (DUoS) charges.

As a business, it is important that your (ASC) level is sufficient to meet your daily demand.  Set the ASC too low for your needs and you will be faced with expensive excess capacity charges.  Set an ASC too high for your needs and you will be faced with paying monthly for more ASC than you actually use.

How we can help?

In order to determine the appropriate available supply capacity kVa for each electricity meter point servicing your business (Meter Point Administration Number or MPAN), we can perform a review of your historic power demand, whilst at the same time forecasting what your future demand will be.

We can also assist you to liaise with the Electricity Distribution Company to make any ASC change requests.

Once your new capacities have been agreed, we will ensure the process has been concluded by checking that the necessary changes have been made and savings have been reflected in your next supplier invoice, giving you peace of mind.

If you would like to discuss how we can support your organisation, please get in touch.
