Achilles BuildingConfidence and UVDB

Achilles offers a range of industry-specific supplier assurance processes, such as BuildingConfidence for the Construction Industry and the Utilities Vendor DataBase (UVDB) for suppliers who wish to bid for projects in the Utilities Sector.

Each of these processes have different levels of compliance and asssessment, depending on the work you do, the size of your business and the contracts you are tendering for.

Achilles’ assessment methods, depending on the level chosen, include desktop audits (where documents and completed questionnaires are submitted) and site audits, where an auditor will visit your office and/or one of your active worksites to carry out an audit.

BuildingConfidence provides certification to Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) and the Common Assessment Standard (CAS).

Achilles UVDB Verify is an independent audit of an organisation’s Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) management systems and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

To achieve success in an Achilles assessment you need to have in place a SHEQ management system (not necessarily certified, but having certification by a UKAS certification body should result in a higher UVDB Verify score), as much of the assessment is based on the same requirements as the related ISO standards.

Putting the systems in place to meet Achilles requirements will give your business a solid foundation to build on should you decide to go for ISO9001, ISO14001 or ISO45001 certification. It can also assist you in demonstrating your commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) or how your business impacts on society and the environment, and how transparent and accountable it is.
